Leadership and Technical Development Program (LTDP) –
Product Development track
The LTDP - Product Development track will provide you the foundation for future success as a selected member of the Caterpillar Product Development community. This community includes engineers in design, validation, test, simulation, purchased parts technical support, maintenance and product/customer support of Cat product in research, new product introduction, and continuous product improvement.
Track Overview
The LTDP - Product Development track is a multi-rotational assignment program lasting twelve to eighteen months. Your specific rotation path is tailored to your intended job responsibilities and individual development needs.
Your first rotation begins in your hiring organization where you will spend three to six months in design, test, development or validation. From there, you will have two three-month rotations encompassing the full product lifecycle and one three-month cross-functional rotation (e.g. manufacturing, purchasing, etc.).
Throughout your time in the program, you will foster your technical and leadership skills through integrated core and track specific training, coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
Upon completion of your last rotation, you will return to your hiring organization for an additional three-year assignment.
Eligibility requirements:
- Minimum GPA: 2.8 on a 4.0 scale (no rounding)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in (preferred, but not limited to): Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering (fluid dynamics or structural focus), Agricultural Engineering (powertrain focus), Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Software Engineering
- Degree from an accredited program or university
- Passion for leadership and technology
- Strong communication skills
