Fighting Global Hunger
The Caterpillar Foundation is joining forces with the Global FoodBanking Network to provide food to those in need.
As an organization committed to the health and well being of the global communities it serves, the Caterpillar Foundation is constantly searching for new ways to help address basic human needs for disadvantaged populations.
Earlier this year, the Caterpillar Foundation contributed more than $500,000 to the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN). Established in 2006, GFN works with individual food banks in 22 different countries to capture surplus food and deliver it to millions of people in need.
The Foundation's investment will help GFN combat hunger in Mexico and the United Kingdom. In addition to distributing needed food throughout the two regions, the Caterpillar Foundation-GFN collaboration will address infrastructure issues and create training opportunities in the areas of nutrition and sustainability.
"The Caterpillar Foundation is proud to support the important work being done by the Global FoodBanking Network," said Michele Sullivan, Caterpillar Foundation vice president. "Together we will help tens of thousands of disadvantaged and undernourished people in Mexico and the United Kingdom, and take another step toward a larger shared goal of fighting world hunger."
The Caterpillar Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Caterpillar Inc. Founded in 1952, the Caterpillar Foundation has contributed more than $500 million to help make sustainable progress possible around the world by providing program support in the areas of environmental sustainability, access to education and basic human needs.
