Caterpillar's vertical integration enables efficient, robust validation across components, systems and machines. The result is products with higher overall quality. 

We have increasingly integrated simulation and modeling into our product development strategy to find and fix potential quality issues early in the process, before the design is committed to iron.  These tools accelerate testing, improve durability and reduce development costs.

When we do build a prototype machine and deliver it to our Proving Grounds, the knowledge gained from simulation and test work allows us to know how the machine will perform in validation applications.  Our validation efforts, therefore, are spent confirming the integrity of the design rather than testing it.  In this way we ensure the highest quality designs are released to production.

We use the same structured, disciplined quality processes to prepare our manufacturing plants. Using simulation and analysis we are able to identify potential assembly process and manufacturing issues and resolve them before production begins.  Our common manufacturing process enables process and tooling improvements to be replicated across all our facilities worldwide.
