Leicester Tigers Celebrate Successful Season Despite Finale Loss

After the success of Leicester Tigers the LV= Cup Final in March, the pressure was on as the team went into Saturday’s Aviva Premiership final against local London team, Harlequins. Leicester Tigers have now been finalists in this prestigious tournament 8 years running, successfully holding up the trophy on half of those occasions.
Despite the efforts of Flanker Steve Mafi and centre Anthony Allen heading over the line, Tigers were beaten 30-23 by top of the table, Harlequins. Harlequins took an early lead but went into half time just 14-13 up against Tigers. They extended this lead in the second half and in the closing moments it even looked like a draw could be on the cards, but it wasn’t meant to be and Harlequins Captain, Chris Robshaw proudly raised the trophy for the first time on behalf of his teammates.
Attendance for the game was recorded at 81,779 on the day and was being shown on ESPN in over 90 countries worldwide, cementing the tournaments place on the global stage.
Caterpillar is proud to sponsor Leicester Tigers and wishes those players leaving the club this summer the best of luck whatever they go on to do next.
