Women’s Initiatives Network (WIN)

Caterpillar's Women's Initiatives Network (WIN) was founded in early 2006, with the vision to support the company's Vision 2020 strategy and to be recognized as the leader everywhere we do business, with talented and engaged people. WIN's purpose is to play a significant role in helping Caterpillar achieve its strategic goals. WIN supports Caterpillar's PEOPLE initiatives and specifically Caterpillar's Global Diversity goals through programs and activities that promote cultural awareness, mentoring, employee recruitment and retention, career development and community outreach.
To date, WIN has more than 600 employee members worldwide. Within this overall membership base, WIN also has four focus groups, which were formed for members interested in meeting more frequently and to address more specific needs. The four focus groups are as follows:
Business Acumen - Focuses on strengthening the knowledge and understanding of key business activities at Caterpillar and provides employees with a better understanding of financial and market information which drives Caterpillar's strategies.
Next Leaders - Provides a forum for less experienced professional women who would like the opportunity to enhance their effectiveness at Caterpillar via networking, information exchange and developing mentor/mentee relationships.
Women in Leadership - Addresses the needs and interests of women who are currently serving in leadership positions within Caterpillar.
Work-Life Balance - Focuses on how employees at Caterpillar balance the needs of work and the needs of home. This team finds creative ways to help employees make the decisions that works best for their situations.
WIN holds monthly general membership meetings, which are sponsored by the focus groups. During each meeting a guest speaker is invited to talk to members about topics and issues that are important to Caterpillar and its women employees, as well as provide members with an opportunity to meet and network with one another.
WIN's sponsor is Jim Waters, vice president for the Caterpillar Production System Division. Jim is an integral part of our affinity group attending general membership meetings, as well as providing strategic direction to the board.
