We Make Olympic-Sized Progress Possible
Around the globe, people are gathering together and watching the London 2012 Olympic Games. Whether it’s the roads created to manage the increased traffic, the power lighting the stage or the actual monumental building showcasing the competing athletes, someone was making it happen. That someone is Caterpillar. Here’s a list of just a few of the past Olympics we’ve been part of helping create:
1956 - Melbourne, Australia: Caterpillar machines prepare sites for the 1956 Olympic Games.
1966-1968 - Grenoble, France: Caterpillar machines help the people of Grenoble prepare for the 1968 Winter Olympic Games.
Caterpillar machines reshaped mountain slopes, built and improved roads, and prepared building sites.
1992 - Barcelona, Spain: Caterpillar generator sets provide primary and backup power for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games.
1998 - Salt Lake City, Utah: Nearly 120 Caterpillar machines work to reroute Interstate 15 in time for the opening of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
2004-2008 - Beijing, China: Caterpillar machines help construct different sites that will be used for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.
