Caterpillar Takes Leadership Role in 2011 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit

Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman and Group President Rich Lavin attended the 2011 APEC Summit—a gathering of heads of state, business leaders and academics with a focus on increasing and improving trade and business relationships among nations. Oberhelman was one of a select few business leaders to take part in a panel discussion during the forum. He also had the opportunity to meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev as well as other business leaders. Lavin was among a handful of leaders who attended a bill signing ceremony conducted by President Barack Obama. The legislation makes it easier for business people to travel among Asian nations. Oberhelman and Lavin also conducted a range of media interviews during the event. Among the stories generated from the interviews is a Xinhua news agency story based on an interview with Doug Oberhelman. Xinhua is the leading news organization in China.
