Caterpillar Participates in 2011 BICES with Impressive Display
The 2011 Beijing International Construction Machinery Exhibition and Seminar show (BICES) was held October 18 - 21 at the Beijing Jiuhua International Exhibition Center. One of the region's largest exhibitions of construction machinery, building material machinery, mining machinery and commercial vehicles, the show is held every 2 years attracting more than 1,200 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors.
Caterpillar participated in the show with one of the largest outdoor display areas among the international manufacturers, featuring Cat® hydraulic excavators ranging from 307D to the new 340D L, 140K motor grader, 980H wheel loader, D6R track-type tractor, paving products, work tools and a C15 generator set. In addition, a suite of Caterpillar solutions were on display—product support, Cat Financial, Cat Rental Store and Used Equipment, Cat Machine Simulators, Connected Worksite and Cat branded merchandise. Representatives from four regional Cat dealers were present. Also on display was an antique Caterpillar tractor built in 1935, which traveled from the US to China just for this show.
Paul Clark, Director of Global Construction & Infrastructure said, "This is the first BICES that I've attended, and I'm really impressed. The Caterpillar booth, in my opinion, has the best message for China. It reflects Caterpillar's philosophy of making sustainable progress possible in the world's largest growth market. We have done a great job in differentiating ourselves from other manufacturers with the wide range of products and solutions that will deliver value to Chinese customers and delivered via our Cat dealers who continue to expand and enhance their coverage in every province. This underscores Caterpillar's commitment to China."
A customer from SinoHydro Bureau 7, a state-owned enterprise in China, took a tour of the Caterpillar booth. He said, "Caterpillar has the best design in terms of booth environment and the product line on display. Caterpillar's return participation in BICES is much welcome and will continue to provide equipment benchmarking for the construction industry. We are amazed at how Caterpillar has become more customer-centric in recent years and the amount of work that it has done in China. And we hope that Caterpillar will continue to provide us with products and solutions to meet our needs."
Cat 340D L launched at BICES
The new Cat 340D L hydraulic excavator was also unveiled and officially launched during an exclusive preview of the Caterpillar booth to the media on October 17, a day before the show opened to the public. Manufactured in China, this machine will not only serve the Chinese market but will also be exported to markets globally. The 340D L is the latest addition to Caterpillar's extensive hydraulic excavator offering in China.
Caterpillar's key objective of participating in BICES was to build brand awareness. The booth concept of a park emphasized Caterpillar's philosophy of making sustainable progress possible in every continent. The trees and plants that were used at the BICES Caterpillar display were donated to a school in Beijing after the event, and a group of Caterpillar employees helped plant the trees at the school.
