Since 1945, Prentice has been manufacturing logging equipment with a commitment to quality products that are dependable and productive. Prentice offers a full line of truck, trailer, and stationary mount knuckleboom loaders, A-frame self loaders, wheel and track feller bunchers, wheel and track harvesters, harvester heads, high speed saws, forwarders, skidders, site prep tractors and attachments.

Prentice machines are also used in mill yard applications for loading and moving timber. Prentice hydro-static drive tractors are matched with powered attachments for right-of-way maintenance, stump removal and land clearing. The majority of customers are small, independent loggers in North America.

Prentice machines will begin carrying Cat engines when Tier 4 interim models are introduced.

The Prentice brand was created in 1945, and has held a market leading position in North America since that time, in particular in the U.S. South, where the majority of timber harvesting in North America occurs. Prentice is a globally recognized brand and has a strong reputation for providing extremely reliable, durable, no-frills, high-performing products. Personal relationships/partnership, quick response, expertise in forestry, and onsite servicing also categorize the brand. Prentice products are sold primarily through independent multi-franchise distributors. Prentice has approximately 35 dealers primarily located in the U.S. and 3 dealers outside of North America (Chile, Australia and Spain). Prentice products are also distributed through 8 Cat dealers in the U.S.
