Leadership and Technical Development Program (LTDP) –
Welding Engineering track
The LTDP - Welding Engineering track will provide you the foundation for future success as a selected member of the Caterpillar Welding Engineering community. This community includes engineers in design, failure analysis, manufacturing support, automation, quality control, research and development, purchasing, remanufacturing, and field service.
Track Overview
The LTDP - Welding Engineering track is a three-year program with three one-year challenging rotation assignments. Rotation assignments include but are not limited to research and development, design and analysis, structural testing, automation, facility welding engineering, operations supervision, purchasing, and specifications and standards. Assignments are based on business requirements and personal development needs. Facilities are located throughout the United States.
Throughout your time in the program, you will foster your technical and leadership skills through integrated core and track specific training, coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
Upon completion of the program, you will be placed in a position within the Welding Engineering community for a two to three year assignment. Placement is determined by a combination of individual preference and business requirements. Positions may include such areas as product engineering, process engineering, supplier quality, research and development, and supervision.
Eligibility requirements:
- Minimum GPA: 2.8 on a 4.0 scale (no rounding)
- Bachelor's degree in (preferred, but not limited to): Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, and Materials Science
- Degree from an accredited program or university
- Passion for leadership and technology
- Strong communication skills
- Hands-on experience or knowledge of welding processes
- Team oriented
- Self starter
- Willing to relocate within the program and upon graduation
